Ridding My Home of Triclosan

Triclosan.  I thought it was a good thing.  After all, it kills germs.  Germs make us sick.  Turns out, triclosan has now been proven to disrupt hormones in animals and has not been proven to be beneficial in hand soaps.  In fact, triclosan may be causing more harm than good.  It is highly unregulated and it is absorbed through the skin.  I have been shocked to learn just how many products contain triclosan.  Right now, my goal is to rid my home of this toxin.  The Chicago Tribune has great article regarding the use of triclosan if you care to read it.   http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2013-02-10/health/ct-met-triclosan--20130210_1_triclosan-plain-soap-sarah-janssen

Here is an article that was published in the L.A. Times regarding triclosan and liver damage:  http://www.latimes.com/science/sciencenow/la-cleaner-hands-higher-liver-risk-20141120-story.html

Here is a November 2014 statement regarding triclosan from the UC SanDiego Health System:  http://health.ucsd.edu/news/releases/Pages/2014-11-17-dirty-side-of-soap.aspx

The bad news about triclosan is not some natural scare tactic.  This is serious stuff!

My recipe for today is home made, foaming hand soap.  It smells great, the kids love to use it, and more importantly, it is TRICLOSAN FREE!!!!

3/4 cup distilled water
1/4 cup liquid castile soap
6 drops Thieves oil
Foaming soap pump bottle (I purchased mine through abundanthealth4u)

Mix all ingredients together, pour into Foaming soap bottle.  Super easy!
